International symposium on Biosafety and Regulatory Issues in Commercialization of Biotechnology Res

 

 

 

 

 

BRAC University, International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology
(ICGEB), Bangladesh Academy of Sciences, Ministry of Science and ICT and
Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd. Jointly organized an International symposium on
Biosafety and Regulatory Issues in Commercialization of Biotechnology Research in
Developing Countries on 2-4 December 2008 in the RDEC Auditorium of LGED. The Symposium was inaugurated by Dr. C. S. Karim, Honorable Adviser of Agriculture. Mr. Maniklal Samaddar, Special Assistant to Chief Adviser, Ministry of Science and ICT was present as Special Guest. Prof. Dr. M. Shamsher Ali, President, BAS and Prof. Dr. Naiyyum Choudhury, Secretary, BAS delivered the welcome address on the occasion on behalf of the Academy. Professor KMS Aziz, Fellow, BAS and Professor AS Islam, Fellow, BAS presented two papers on bioethics. Professor Haseena Khan, Fellow, BAS presented a paper on Prospects of biotechnology in
Bangladesh. Professor Naiyyum Choudhury presented a paper on   biosafety -national and regional perspectives. Prof. Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury, Fellow, BAS and Vice Chancellor, BRAC University chaired the session. About 300 scientists of the related fields from all over Bangladesh were present in the inaugural session.
