Dr. Abu Reza Md. Towfiqul Islam, Associate Professor, Ex Head of the Department, has been working in the Department of Disaster Management, Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur, Bangladesh. He is acting as Dean of the Faculty of Life and Earth Sciences, and Director, E-learning centre, Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur. Dr. Islam received a Ph.D. in Climate Change and Climate Systems from the Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, China. He is an Associate Fellow of the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences (2020), the apex body for scientists in Bangladesh. He obtained a postdoctoral fellowship (2021-2022) from the Prince of Songkla University, Thailand, and the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Malaysia. He has been awarded 12th international gold medal from Dr. M. A. Wazed Miah Memorial Foundation for the contribution in the Environmental Science and climate change field. His major fields of expertise are natural hazards, disaster management, climate change, water quality, flood susceptibility, pollution, human health risk, sediment quality, water resource monitoring, and management. He wrote one book, eight book chapters, over 300 peer-reviewed research papers, Google scholar citation over 8500 Plus, participated in ten keynote or participating conferences, and received three awards or recognitions. His research work has been funded by Begum Rokeya University under the University Grants Commission (UGC), of the government. of Bangladesh, and King Khalid University, Saudi Arabia. He is a review editor in the Frontiers in Water journal, an associate editor in Frontiers in built environment and Engineering and Frontiers in Public Health, a guest editor in Frontiers in Climate, Sustainability, and has also served as a reviewer for many internationally reputed journals.
