Prof. Dr. Zaved Khan is a pioneer of nanotechnology research in Bangladesh, establishing the nation’s first ISO 9001:2015 certified Nanotechnology laboratory—the Nano-bio and Advanced Materials Engineering (NAME) Lab—in 2013. He holds a D. Eng. from Waseda University (Japan), an M.S. from AIT (Thailand), and B.Sc./M.Sc. degrees from Islamic University, Bangladesh, with postdoctoral research completed at Henan University (China) and Tohoku University (Japan).

An internationally recognized scholar, Prof. Khan was elected a Fellow of the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences (BAS). Ranked among Stanford University/Elsevier’s Top 2% Scientists Worldwide consecutively from 2020 to 2026, his accolades include the BAS Gold Medal in Physical Sciences (2021) and UGC Gold Medals (2018, 2019). He has authored over 190 high-impact journal publications, accumulated over 7,900 citations, filed 12 patents, and delivered over 100 keynote/invited talks globally.

Among his game-changing innovations is sprayable Nano Urea, which reduces fertilizer costs about 82%. By utilizing foliar stomatal absorption, it minimizes environmental leaching, lowers emissions, and boosts crop yield. His breakthroughs have secured multinational commercial interest, including five-year joint R&D agreements with US-based bio-fertilizer companies.
