Professor Syed Twareque Ali was born on 26 September, 1942 in Bangladesh. Until his death he was residing permanently in Canada.

He obtained B.Sc. in Physics (Hons.), (1964); M.Sc. in Theoretical Physics, DhakaUniversity (1966); Ph.D. in Mathematical Physics, University of Rochester, Rochester, N.Y. (1973).

Dr. Ali was Scientific Officer (1966), Atomic Energy Centre, Dhaka, Bangladesh; Teaching and  Research Assistant (1967 - 1973), University of Rochester, New York; Research Associate (1973), University of Rochester, New York; Visiting Scientist (1973 - 1975); International Center for Theoretical Physics, Trieste, Italy; Visiting Lecturer and Research Associate (1975 - 1978), University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario;  Assistant Professor (1978 -1979),  University of Prince Edward Island; Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter and Dozent  (1979 - 1981), Institut fur Theoretische Physik Technische Universitat Clausthal, Germany; Assistant Professor (1981 - 1983), Concordia University,  Montreal, Quebec;  Associate Professor (1983 - 1990), Concordia University Montreal, Quebec; Professor (1990 – 2016), Concordia University, Montreal, Quebec.

Professor Ali published 15 books and monographs; 52 research articles published in refereed journals; 32 contributions to books and published lectures; Attended conferences, delivered lectures and worked as Visiting Professors in many places of the world.

He acted as referee to four world standard journals on Physics and Mathematics in UK and USA; referee for NSERC, Canada and NSF, USA; served in many academic, professional and administrative committees in the Concordia University, Canada.

Professor Ali expired on 24 January 2016.
