Bidhan C. Saha was born in 1946 in the Chittagong district. Bidhan was the eldest of six children born to Mr. Chinta Haran Saha and Mrs. Charu Bala Saha.
After successfully completing his junior High Schooling from Majumderkhil Junior High, Bidhan attended Rangunia Model High School. In 1962, he matriculated with distinction in Mathematics from this Model High. He attended the Chittagong Gov’t College, Chittagong and graduated in 1966. He joined Rajshahi University (RU) at Rajshahi, where he worked toward a Master of Science (M. Sc.) degree in Physics. At RU, Bidhan stood first class first in his M.Sc. in 1968. In 1969, Bidhan obtained 1st Class in M.Sc. (in Thesis Group) degree from Rajshahi University (RU), Rajshahi, Bangladesh. At RU, Bidhan’s M.Sc. Thesis advisors were Professors A. Husain, M. M. Kasim and Arun K. Basak. His thesis produced three research publications in various peer reviewed journals. As of today, Bidhan continues pursuing fruitful research with the team of his mentor Professor Arun K. Basak, a life-time emeritus Professor of Rajshahi University, Bangladesh.
He completed Ph. D. in Physics in 1976 under the supervision of Professor Nimai C. Sil, Head of the Department of Theoretical Physics, Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Kolkata, India.
His Field of Specialization and Research embodies theoretical Atomic, Molecular, Plasma, Chemical and Astrophysics.
He is the Chairperson, Department of Physics, Florida A&M University, Tallahassee, FL-32307, USA.
He published 8 Book Chapters; 118 Peer Reviewed Research Publications; 46 International Conference and 102 National Conferences and Symposiums Presentations.
He was awarded Distinguished Researcher of the Year Award in 2012, Florida A&M University;Faculty Excellence in Graduate Mentoring, Florida A&M University, 2015.
Bidhan is an Expatriate Fellow of Bangladesh Academy of Sciences, 2019. In 2020, Dr. Saha was elected a Fellow of the American Physical Society.
He visited Australia, Austria, Canada, French, India, U.S.A, and U.K.
