Prof. Dr. Zeba Islam Seraj was born on 12 January 1958.
She earned PhD Biochemistry, University of Glasgow, UK; Post- Doctoral in Molecular Genetics; University of Liverpool, UK.
She is Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Dhaka from 1998-till date. Associate Professor: 1992-1998 as above. Assistant Professor: 1988-1992 as above.
She was awarded with Annanya Prize, 2016; TedX Dhaka invited Speaker, Dean’s Award, 2012
She published 66 papers in national and international journals. She is Associate Editor, CABI-Agriculture and Bioscience. Member, editorial committee, Bangladesh Association of Plant Tissue Culture and Biotechnology Journal.
She is Director, CBLAST (Center for Bioinformatics Learning and Systematics Training), DU, since 2015. Honorary Researcher, University of Texas at Austin, USA, since 2012; Member Core Committee of Biosafety, Government of Bangladesh.
She is TWAS Fellow from 2021, Life member: Bangladesh Association of Plant Tissue Culture and Biotechnology, Bangladesh Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Graduate Biochemists Association; President: Global Network of Bangladeshi Biotechnologists, Vice-President, Biomolecular Research Foundation. Prof. Seraj visited USA, China, Indonesia, Philippines, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, UK.
