Prof. Dr. Chowdhury Rafiqul Ahsan was born on 01 January 1960, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
He obtained Ph.D. degree from the Department of Bacteriology, Hirosaki University, Hirosaki, Japan in 1989. M.Sc. from the Dept. of Microbiology, University of Dhaka in 1985 (session 1981) and B.Sc. (Honours) from the Dept. of Biochemistry, University of Dhaka in1982 (session 1980).
He is Professor, Dept. of Microbiology, University of Dhaka from April, 2003 – till date.
He worked on the mechanism of botulinum toxin in gut epithelial cells as a Visiting Research Fellow, Dept. of Medicine, Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, U.S.A. from August, 2000– August, 2002. Also worked on the characterization of the 65 kDa heat shock protein from Mycobacterium leprae. as a Science and Technology Fellow, National Institute for leprosy Research, Tokyo, Japan from April, 1994 – March, 1995.
Prof. Ahsan Received “Monbusho” scholarship during Ph.D. program in Japan.
He has more than 100 research publications in national and international journals.
He was visiting Research Fellow, Dept. of Medicine, Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, U.S.A. (August, 2000 – August, 2002).
He visited India, Nepal, Thailand, Singapore, China, Japan, Malaysia, Vietnam, South Korea, Australia, Belgium, Hungary, U.K., U.S.A.
