Professor Dr. Emdadul Haque Chowdhury, Fellow, BAS Inducted into the WVPA Hall of Honour 2025

The World Veterinary Poultry Association (WVPA) has honoured Professor Dr. Emdadul Haque Chowdhury, a distinguished poultry pathologist and academic leader from Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), and Fellow, Bangladesh Academy of Sciences (BAS) through his induction into the WVPA Hall of Honour 2025 in recognition of his outstanding contributions to poultry veterinary science.

The prestigious recognition was announced and conferred during the 23rd WVPA Congress, held in Kuching, Malaysia from 6-10 October 2025, with the award ceremony taking place on 9 October 2025 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching. More than 40 participants attended the congress from Bangladesh.

Professor Chowdhury, currently a Selection Grade Professor in the Department of Pathology and former Vice-Chancellor of BAU, has made pioneering contributions in poultry disease diagnostics, biosecurity, and transboundary disease surveillance. Over his illustrious career spanning more than three decades, he has authored over 175 peer-reviewed publications, supervised more than 100 postgraduate students, and contributed significantly to bio-secured live bird market models in collaboration with FAO, icddr,b, and other partners.

As the President and Corresponding Officer of the WVPA Bangladesh Branch, Professor Chowdhury has been instrumental in promoting scientific exchange, organizing international conferences, and mentoring the next generation of poultry health professionals. His recognition in the WVPA Hall of Honour marks a historic milestone for Bangladesh, showcasing the nation's growing global leadership in poultry health, research, and education.

The Bangladesh Academy of Sciences (BAS) warmly congratulates Professor Dr. Emdadul Haque Chowdhury on this prestigious international honour.
