Professor Yearul Kabir was born on 08 January 1958.
He earned Ph.D. in Nutritional Biochemistry in the year 1990 from the Laboratory of Nutrition, Department of Applied Biological Chemistry, Faculty of Agriculture, Tohoku University, Japan. M.Sc. in Biochemistry (Thesis group) in the year 1979 (held in 1983) from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Dhaka, Dhaka, Bangladesh. B.Sc. (Hons.) in Biochemistry in the year 1978 (held in 1981) from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Dhaka, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
He is Professor, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, DU. (Lecturer: April, 1984 and Professor December 1997 to date).
He was awarded with Dean's Teacher’s Research Award (Gold Medal) 2016 for outstanding research in the Faculty of Biological Sciences; Awarded Young Scientist Travel Grant for joining FAOBMB Symposium 1997, Manila, Philippines; Awarded Young Scientist Travel Grant for joining IUBMB Conference 1992, Nagoya, Japan; Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho) Scholarship for Ph.D. at Tohoku University, 1987-1990.
He has published 115 articles in journals, 15 book chapters.

General Secretary (April 2000- September, 2003 and April 2012 – May 2015).
